About the Author

Miles White is the author of The Canvas Sextet series as well as From Jim Crow to Jay Z: Race, Rap and the Performance of Masculinity in American Popular Culture (2011, University of Illinois Press), a highly acclaimed socio-historical and critical study of hip hop music culture. He holds a doctorate in ethnomusicology from the University of Washington and a B.A. in English literature from the Colorado College. He is also an award-winning entertainment journalist and former staff writer for USA TODAY. He is an assistant professor at Gyeongju University in South Korea.

The Canvas Sextet, his series of literary flash fiction, currently contains four volumes: Jesus Loves You But Not Today, Download the Moon, Zen Pussy Riot, and All These Are My Tears. Two volumes—My River Runs to You and The I-Ching Chronicles—are forthcoming.
